No-cost pregnancy tests

At Aim, we don’t believe anyone should have to pay to find out if they’re pregnant which is why we offer no-cost, confidential pregnancy tests. Even if you’ve already taken an at-home test, come to Aim Women’s Center for another. A pregnancy test is your best first step to getting proper medical care. Get the answers you need to move forward.

How a pregnancy test works

When a woman is pregnant, her body begins producing a specific hormone. This hormone, known as hCG, is produced once a fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. A pregnancy test detects the amount of hCG found in a woman’s urine. A positive test result means hCG was detected.

At Aim, a trained member of our medical staff will administer your test and review the results with you during your appointment.

When to take a pregnancy test

For the most accurate results, wait until after your missed period to take a test. Waiting at least a week after gives your body the time to produce a detectable amount of the hormone. The test has a higher accuracy rate the longer you wait.

If you’ve already taken a home pregnancy test

Even if you took an over-the-counter pregnancy test, it’s important to have the results confirmed. At-home tests are accurate, but they’re often taken too soon. Women sometimes forget to check for the expiration date. If the pregnancy test is taken too soon there’s a chance you could get a negative result. At Aim Women’s Center you can make an appointment for a free pregnancy test to confirm the result.

The test is positive, now what?

Following a positive test result, we’ll offer a no-cost ultrasound at our center. There’s so much more to know about your pregnancy before you can make an informed and confident decision. A limited ultrasound will give you the information you need.

We understand how you can feel overwhelmed and anxious at the thought of being unexpectedly pregnant. Once both a pregnancy test and ultrasound confirm your pregnancy, we can talk about your options. The more you know, the easier it will be to make the best decision moving forward.
