No-Cost Limited Ultrasounds
After you have had a positive pregnancy test at our center, your next step is to have an ultrasound. No matter the options you are considering, an ultrasound will give you valuable information about your body and your pregnancy so that you are empowered to make the best decision for you. Ultrasounds are offered at no cost at Aim Women’s Center so that you can receive the answers you need, regardless of your financial circumstances.
What is an ultrasound?
Ultrasounds use high-frequency sound waves to produce an image of what is happening inside the body. There are no known harmful effects that can come from an ultrasound procedure.
Why do I need to have an ultrasound?
An ultrasound will confirm your pregnancy, as well as provide you with the information you need so that you can make the best decision possible for your pregnancy. An ultrasound will determine:
- How far along you are.
Knowing the gestational age of your pregnancy helps you better understand your options, specifically the abortion procedures that are available to you.
- If there is a fetal heartbeat.
30 percent of all pregnancies do not carry to term for any number of reasons. An ultrasound will determine if your pregnancy is viable or if you have naturally miscarried.
- Where the pregnancy is located.
Sometimes a pregnancy will implant itself somewhere other than the uterus. When this occurs, it is called an ectopic pregnancy. An ectopic pregnancy can be life-threatening and requires immediate medical attention. An ultrasound will determine whether the pregnancy is in the uterus.
