If you are experiencing an unplanned pregnancy, you may be considering an abortion. Because there are many different types of abortion procedures and risks associated with each, it’s necessary to talk about your options and obtain the most up-to-date information about the procedures. Our helpful medical team can answer questions about abortion in a non-judgmental and caring way.
There are three important pieces of information you need to know before you make a decision about an abortion:
- Am I really pregnant?
It’s possible to get a positive result on a pregnancy test and NOT be pregnant. The most effective way to confirm your pregnancy is through an ultrasound exam. Our pregnancy testing is free. If your clinical-grade test is positive, we offer a no-cost ultrasound exam by a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer so you can be sure.
- How far along am I?
This information will determine the kind of abortion procedure you are qualified to receive — affecting costs and possible side effects. We will date your pregnancy through ultrasound.
- Is it important to know if I have a STI before I have an abortion?
Yes. Having a STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) when you get an abortion can cause PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease), leading to a lifetime of reproductive health issues. We offer free, confidential STI testing.
You, like many women who decide on adoption, might not want an abortion, but aren’t quite ready to be a parent yet. You could also be concerned about your financial stability, family situation and future endeavors — and that’s okay! Adoption is a practical option for women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy.
With adoption, you can choose the family, whether you want an open or closed adoption and how much of your information you want to share with the family. When you come in for an appointment with us, we can discuss the adoption process with you and put you in contact with an adoption agency. No matter your reason for considering adoption, we can connect you with the best people to answer all your questions.
If you decide to parent, we are here to answer any questions you might have and offer you the support and resources necessary for you.
